We decided that it was best to take a few rest days in Manang, mainly because of altitude sickness, but I (Jen) ended up getting a very slight cold anyhow, so it all worked out for the best. Manang was a great place to “put our feet up”, as the town had everything you could imagine, from sunshine, great food, great snacks (like Hob Nobs, our new favorite), to movie theaters (although we did not go).

The town sort of had an “old western” feel to it . . .
We met these great Israelis on our way to Lower Pisang, and were trekking about the same pace up until this day. They had been all over the world, and had no plans to stop traveling. It was really great to talk with them and hear what they had to say, we were sorry that they had to go. (l-r: Nir, Jen, Scott, Amir, Eliraz) We plan on showing them around Chicago if they are ever able to make it there . . . .
One of the first “bakeries” we tried, it was pretty good (especially the chocolate croissants!)
We attended the Altitude Sickness Information Session, offered free at the clinic. Phil and Lara ended up staying an extra day with us as well (Yves and Rahel went on to the next town). It was a very informative class, and we had our blood oxygen levels, as well as our blood pressure, tested at the end of the class. We were extremely thrilled when we found out we were all doing very well with the acclimatization. It was well worth the extra day spent in Manang!
