More sidhus on pilgrimage. We gave them a few rupees and said a few words… they travelled from southern India.
Day trip to Dhaulagiri Icefall and Sekung Lake
We decided to stay an extra day in Larjung so that we could do the day trip to the Dhaulagiri Icefall. Things started out relatively easy, what with the trail being marked and all .. .. but about 2-3 hours into the ascent, the trail basically disappeared. After walking for another hour or so on what we thought was the trail, it became apparent that it was better to head back down before we got really lost. Also, it had started to cloud up, and we would have had difficulty seeing the icefall anyhow. We were able to make the most of it though, and visit Sekung Lake on the way down. It was very peaceful and well worth it!
Lavendar flowers lining the trail
Clear views of Dhaulagiri (8167m) in the morning… one of only 14 mountains in the world taller than 8000m.
Extraordinary views from lakeside…
Being the only ones at the lake, the tripod came in handy again in this instance!
Our room in Larjung
Most of our rooms have no wall art… this one was graced with this lovely gem.
