A 5 hour bus ride would bring us to the capital city of Laos. Our route to Vietnam was made easier by coming through Vientiene, but unfortunately we wouldn’t have much time to spend there, as our flight was already booked. As in Luang Prabang, there was quite a bit of French architecture, but Vientiene was more “city-like”, therefore took away some of the quaint feeling. The amazing thing that we keep finding is the cheap, FANTASTIC food! (Steak is about $3-4)
We enjoyed Laos thoroughly, but are really getting excited now to get to Vietnam.
Wat Si Saket contained hundreds of small niches that housed more than 2,000 silver and ceramic Buddha images, and there were more than 300 seated and standing Buddhas. The statues ranged in age from the 15th century up to the 19th century.
Vietnam, here we come!
The Amazing Race recently had a challenge where the contestants had to count hundreds of figurines (some Buddhas) ... I think it was while they were in China. You two could be competitors now that you've sort of done it yourselves! ha.
ReplyDeleteNo way! That's pretty cool, what a coincidence!
